You might have some questions about our services, hopefully we can answer them here! Click on the question to jump to the answer

How long are your services, and what happens?

A man enjoying a cup of tea after the serviceOur services are around 1 hour 45 minutes.

Before our the service, you are invited to join us in the main hall from 10am to 10.15am for prayer. You are also welcome to sit quietly in the sanctuary, or in the remain in the coffee area for conversation.

At every service, we have a time of worship and prayer, led by the team.

On the 1st Sunday of the month, we take communion. This is followed by a sermon - a talk about a passage of scripture to help you learn and grow as a Christian. Various members of the congregation bring this, alongside Pastors Matt and Bola.

After the service on Sunday tea and coffee is served and you are warmly invited to stay and chat with us.

Do you take a collection? Do I have to contribute?

We don't take a collection as part of our corporate worship. If you feel part of us at BCLC, and would like to give as part of your worship, feel free to use the offering box in the main hall or visit our giving page for details of how to give online. Once a month we take a collection for a mission we support - but there is no obligation to contribute.

Is there anything for the children?

We love families at BCLC and want your children to feel welcome. We have our children's ministry (Lightzone) that takes place every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month (when everyone stays in the main meeting room for our all-age service).  We cater for 3-11 year olds - we have one group for 3-5s and one for 5-11s.

BCLC Youth meets twice a month on a Sunday with a group for 11-18s meeting during the sermon, usually on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.

During the service, please don’t worry about your children being restless or making noise – we’re not upset, you don’t need to be!

What about the under 3s?

In our foyer we have a secure creche area which is open every Sunday during the whole service. Children will need a parent or carer to accompany them. Our youngest members are welcome to remain in the main service; the creche area is there for you as parents of under 4s, when you feel you need it. There is a video link-up to the hall.

What's an all-age service?

On one Sunday of every month (usually the last Sunday of the month), our children and young people are invited to stay with us in the main meeting room for the whole service. These services are usually a bit shorter, more accessible and more interactive than our regular services. We also encourage the children and young people to be more involved in leading and participating in these services.

What if I’m late or have to leave early?

While we would love for you to enjoy our whole service, we understand that sometimes life happens! Please don’t be put off coming even if you’re not going to make it on time, or aren’t available for the whole service.

Is there parking available?

There are four parking spaces available on site at 17 Upland Road on Sundays, which are reserved for those with mobility difficulties. Please contact us if you have need of one of these spaces.

In the interests of maintaining good relationships with our neighbours, we ask that if possible you do not park on Upland Road on a Sunday. There is parking available on other local roads.
