Mission to Bexley

As a church, we are actively involved in mission - God's mission to us, to spread the good news about Jesus - in Bexley borough. We have two 'home-grown' missions: Street pastors and Saturday Evangelism. You can read more about these by clicking the link in the menu.

We also support a number of other missions within Bexley. These include:

Healing on the streets

Healing on the streets (HOTS) is quite simply exactly what it sounds! A group of Christians, from Churches across Bexley, take time out of their day to meet people in Bexleyheath, and to offer prayer for healing for anyone who needs and wants it. A number of BCLC members are part of the Bexley HOTS team.

CRiBS schools work

CRiBS is a schools team, made up of Christians from a wide cross-section of churches that go into schools around Bexley to deliver high-quality, thought-provoking RE lessons, assemblies and plays, and also support and encourage lunchtime clubs (Christian Unions). With the emphasis on spiritual development, CRiBS has been working with schools since 1993, helping to deliver the Christian element of RE in the Curriculum in an inspired, creative and relevant way. CRiBS teaching gives young people an appreciation of the value of others, a sense of self-worth and a hope for their future.

A number of members of BCLC work with CRiBS, in various roles and the Church enjoys a close connection with the team.

Food Bank

Trinity Church, Bexleyheath operates a foodbank, under the umbrella of Bexley Food Banks and more widely, the Trussell Trust.

They give out food to local people who are referred to them via the job centre, citizens advice, schools, and other places to see them through times of crisis.  The volunteers at the foodbank also offer an opportunity for people to talk about their situation and discuss various options to help them find other support in the borough, as well as a warm drink and biscuits while they wait for their food parcel to be put together.

BCLC supports the food bank by collecting food and other essentials continually throughout the year.

Evergreen Care

Established in 2014, Evergreen Care Bexley is a charity that seeks to serve the older and vulnerable adults in the community by improving their circumstances through advocacy, friendship and practical support. They offer a wide range of services from befriending to cleaning to vetting tradesmen. A number of BCLC members volunteer for Evergreen Care on a regular basis, befriending elderly members of our community.
